Detailed Itinerary

DAY
1

Fly into Leh via one of the most picturesque flights over the high Himalayas. Acclimatize yourself to the high altitude town of Leh, located at 3500m above sea level. The winter temperatures vary between 0 ℃ and -10 ℃ during the day time, to -20 ℃ at night.

DAY
2

Take a day to orient yourself to the town. Visit the Shey, Thiksey and Hemis monasteries in the Indus valley basin. Bask in the winter sun, but ensure that you're inside your room by sunset.

DAY
3

Drive to the road head at Chiling, the start point of your trek. It is a short trek today, mainly to get everyone used to the alien sensation of walking on ice. Trek till Tilat Sumdo. Camp overnight on a level field next to the river.
Trek time - 1 hour

DAY
4

The trek today is longer, now that you have found your feet. You will slowly be able to ascertain which parts of the icy path is thicker and safest to walk on. Stop en route for a hot lunch, prepared by the cooking team, which has gone on ahead of you. Camp at Tsomo Palder.
Trek time - 6 hours

DAY
5

The longest day of the trek, we walk to Dibb, crossing numerous small frozen waterfalls which lend an air of fantasy to the trek. You may also be lucky to spot some blue sheep on the steep cliffs, or pug marks of the snow leopard.
Trek time - 8 hours

DAY
6

Trek to Nerak today, crossing the Nerak waterfall on the way. Post the waterfall, we cross the Nerak bridge, an old rickety bridge from where we can glimpse the waterfall from above. We reach Nerak in another half hoor, and camp on the camping grounds.
Trek time - 7 hours

DAY
7

We retrace our steps back - however, the actual experience will feel completely different, since the Chadar is an ever changing entity, with the Chadar breaking and reforming every day. Trek to Dibb.
Trek time - 7 hours

DAY
8

Trek Dibb to Shingra Komo, a large-ish trekking site.
Trek time - 8 hours

DAY
9

Trek to Tilat Doh. Meet your vehicle here and drive to Leh for a much needed hot water shower.
Trek time - 6 hours
